Hello Expense is a simple, reliable expense tracker for Android

A good mobile application is a fine balance between simplicity and functionality. You're using it on the go, so you don't have a lot of time to sit there and fumble with the phone to figure it all out. But you also need it to be powerful enough to let you do whatever it is you're trying to get done.

Hello Expense is one mobile app that gets it right. It's an expense tracker that lets you use your Android-powered phone to quickly log the money you spend and then analyze it and see where it all went.

I recently had the chance to use it in a real-life situation - a road trip that took a few days and involved quite a few expenses. Logging each expense took seconds, and at the end of each day I could get a great overview of how much money I spent on each category so far.

Categories and tags are user-configurable; the app also sports its own number pad to make number entry easy, regardless of what keyboard you're using.Hello Expense is a simple, reliable expense tracker for Android originally appeared on Download Squad on Tue, 29 Mar 2011 13:30:00 EST. Fujifilm Makes The X10 High-End Compact Official

Earlier this week, I posted a review of the Fujifilm X100, a unique and highly-anticipated camera that, while compelling, I felt simply wasn't living up to its own promises. But we've been hearing rumors for weeks about a model for half the price that offers the same styling and high quality build, but compromises on sensor size and omits the sweet hybrid rangefinder/EVF. Fujifilm has just made that model, the X10, official.

It's a different model for a different kind of shooter, competing with Canon's G12 and Nikon's P7100. Read on for details.

Toshiba's Portege Z830 is an ultraslim, ultrasexy Ultrabook

Ready for your first helping of Ultrabook? Because it's here. Behold: Toshiba's Portege Z830. Checking in at 2.5 pounds and 0.63 inches thick, the 13.3-inch magnesium-clad beaut that lies before you is 20 percent lighter and 40 percent thinner than its (relatively) svelte sibling, the R380. But don't be fooled by that diminutive profile, as Toshiba still managed to cram some serious silicon (an optional Core i7 CPU), up to 6GB of RAM and an eight-cell 47Wh battery inside. On top of those guts resides a keyboard that's both backlit and spill-resistant (!), a 1366 x 768 display and a 1.3 megapixel webcam in the lid. Also onboard are three USB ports -- one 3.0 and two 2.0, one of which does sleep and charge -- an Ethernet jack, HDMI and VGA output and an SD card slot. There's also the obligatory 802.11b/g/n WiFi radio, along with optional Intel Wireless Display.

We're still waiting for a full rundown of the various configurations and specs, but Toshiba did tell us that the Z830 line will start at under $1,000 when it goes on sale come November. Until then, hop past the break for some brief impressions of a prototype unit.

HTC EVO 3D review (European version)

HTC isn’t always first to market with new smartphone technologies, but we’ve found that its products are usually worth the wait. The Sensation, for example, wasn’t the first dual-core smartphone on the block when it launched back in May, but when it arrived it proved itself to be a speedy and stylish device with some of the best software we’ve seen on any Android phone. Now, without much fanfare or hype, HTC has quietly released the Sensation’s big brother -- the EVO 3D, in Europe. If the name sounds familiar, then it should. We reviewed  the Sprint version of this stereoscopic beast back in June, and over the past couple of months, users across the US have been rushing to pick up the device. Being a Euro phone, there’s no 4G Wimax support, however fundamentally it’s still an EVO 3D -- a big, chunky, heavy, powerful 4.3-inch smartphone running Gingerbread and HTC Sense 3.0, with some neat 3D trickery up its sleeve. However all this shiny new technology doesn’t come cheap -- at the time of writing the SIM-free price is an eye-watering £500 (~$825), with on-contract prices from the Carphone Warehouse starting at £36 per month. So can the HTC EVO 3D justify its high price point, and how does it compare to more affordable competition from the LG Optimus 3D and HTC’s own Sensation? Read on to find out.

Samsung unveils WB750 camera, with long zoom for all your paparazzi needs

Sometimes a photographer needs to get really, really close to his or her subject. And sometimes that requires a little help from a friend. Samsung has just that situation in mind with its new WB750, which features an 18x optical zoom with 24x Smart Zoom -- that's the longest zoom in the company's compact portfolio. The camera also sports a 12.5 megapixel CMOS sensor with Sammie's proprietary BSI (Back Side Illuminated) technology, and a redesigned image sensor, lens, and image processor. In addition to still photos, it also shoots 1080p HD video; a dual capture function allows you to shoot video alongside 10 megapixel pictures. Or, if you'd rather, you can take up to 10 frames per second in high-speed continuous mode. Pricing and availability have not yet been announced, but we have our fingers crossed it arrives before our next safari. See more pictures in the gallery below, and check out the full PR after the break.
